Jam Drops

Jam Drops are so yummy. My husband had never heard of them so I realized they aren’t a thing in America. I’m really sorry if you didn’t grow up with these bickies (also known as a cookie in america). They were my favorite growing up. Imagine this: a Jam Drop is biscuit (cookie) with gooey jam inside. Sounds yum, yes?

I was on a quest to bake the modern-day, health-conscious bickie. I also wanted to make sure it was quick and easy so you can just whip up a batch of these delicious Jam Drops. These bickies take no more then 10 minutes to prep then another 12 minutes in the oven. You can have home-cooked bickies in 22 minutes. Once you master this recipe you will have no excuse to buy less healthy, less tasty, baked goods from the store.

Of course, you could make your own home made sugar free jam, BUT we are making quick bickies here so there isn’t time for that. I used St.Dalfour Wild Blueberry Jam. I picked blueberry obviously because my baby’s name is Blu (short for Bluberry :) This brand is the cleanest jam I could find as its only sweetened with fruit juice. It has no additives, and this is great news.

Blu, my 14 month old, loves these cookies. I get real enjoyment when I see others enjoy the food I make, but when Blu enjoys something I make I become elated. That’s why I’m obsessed with making wholesome recipes she can explore.

I grew up eating these cookies however the ingredients were not so nutrient-dense. The recipe below is the modern-day, health-conscious version. They are just as good as I remember from a kid.



How to cook Jam Drops

  1. In a food processor combine almond meal, cassava flour, salt & baking powder.
  2. Gradually add in coconut oil & honey/maple syrup until a dough forms.
  3. Roll 1 tablespoon of mixture at a time into a ball and place on a lined baking tray.
  4. Press the biscuits down with your finger or a spoon and fill the indentation with jam. I like lots of jam therefor I make a big indentation for the jam to sit in. 
  5. Bake at 350 F / 180 degrees for 12 - 15 minutes or until golden brown.
  6. Allow to cool before eating.
